Helping you excel
The kind of induction you'll receive when you're appointed will differ depending on the organisation, though you should expect some kind of introduction from the Chair, Chief Executive or other key personnel - in addition to a Scottish Government guidance manual. Beyond that, there may be additional training on an ongoing, individual basis to ensure your skills develop.
It's important that these bodies open their doors as widely as possible, but it's also essential that the people appointed have the skills to help public bodies achieve their goals. If you feel that you aren't yet ready for a Public Appointment, but you'd like to consider it in the future, there may be relevant courses or training programmes in your area that could help. If you would like to be kept informed about workshops and events about Public Appointments please register your details here.
If you know of a group that would like a workshop run for its members on how to apply for Public Appointment - or you would like a current board member to talk to your group about their role - please contact us by email and provide us with your name, email address and telephone number. Or call Freephone 0800 015 8449.
