Helping you excel
The induction you will receive will differ depending on the organisation to which you are appointed. You should expect some kind of introduction from the Chair, Chief Executive or other key personnel - in addition to a Scottish Government guidance manual. In addition a Scottish Government induction workshop is run three times a year for new Board members. Beyond general induction, additional training on an ongoing individual basis may be arranged by the organisation to which you are appointed to ensure your skills develop.
It is essential that the people appointed have the right skills to help public bodies achieve their goals. If you feel that you are not yet ready for a Public Appointment, but would like to consider applying in the future, there may be relevant courses or training programmes in your area that could help. If you would like to be kept informed of any workshops and events about Public Appointments please register your details here.
If you know of a group that would like a workshop run for its members on how to apply for Public Appointments, or if you would like a current Board member to talk to your group about their role - please contact us by email and provide us with your name, email address and telephone number, or call freephone 0300 244 1898.
