It's what you know that makes the difference
What You Bring Will Make A Difference
In every aspect of life in our country - from education and healthcare, to justice and the environment - public bodies have a huge role to play.
That’s why Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister for Scotland has proposed the 50/50 by 2020 plan; a pledge to make public appointments within public bodies more diverse.
It’s so important that these public bodies include board members who reflect Scottish society - people from all walks of life; those with a vast range of viewpoints and life experiences.
With the right skills, coupled with a little time and commitment, you'll have an opportunity to deliver ministerial policy and develop key strategies. It’s a time for you to get your voice, your opinions and your concerns heard and to make a difference in the things that matter.
Statement from Scottish Ministers:
We appreciate the contribution many people already make to public appointments and are keen to see an increase in applications and appointments from those individuals who do not already hold a ministerial public appointment. Public bodies should give early consideration to how they can best attract a diverse range of suitably skilled and able people to their boards.
SCOTTISH POLICE AUTHORITY (SPA) – CHAIR APPOINTMENT
Scottish Ministers are looking to appoint a Chair to the Scottish Police Authority and would welcome applications from anyone who believes they could make a strong contribution.
Applications would be particularly welcome from groups currently under-represented on Scotland’s public bodies, such as women, ethnic minorities disabled people and people aged under 50.
